Episode Summary

Classically-trained two-spirit song carrier, composer, activist, and Member of the Wolastoqiyik People of the Neqotkuk, Jeremy Dutcher, plays new music from the 2023 album, called Motewolonuwok (People of great spiritual power, which continues Dutcher’s exploration of their First Nations roots. Then, No-No Boy, the project of musician and scholar Julian Saporiti, blends folk songs, sound pieces, and storytelling to illuminate American histories. He performs music from his doctoral thesis, in-studio. Also, drummer, composer, and bandleader Allison Miller marries environmentalism and activism with joyous chamber jazz and tap dances, along with a hyper-talented band of improvisers, as they play music from her album, Rivers In Our Veins. Then, Milwaukee siinger and guitarist Buffalo Nichols envisions blues for the present time, as he plays in-studio. Hear the monsters of marimba, Son Rompe Pera, and their cumbia punk, delivered in-studio.
